Reservation Policies

Rates

  • Rates are displayed in Canadian dollars, unless stated otherwise, are subject to change and are based on availability.
  • Rates are subject to taxes and fees, currently 17.16%.

GUARANTEE POLICY

  • The Magnolia Hotel & Spa views reservations as a mutual commitment. On or after the day of arrival, any cancellation, date changes or changes to the number of nights for all or any part of the stay will result in the processing of the full value of the stay that was originally reserved.

FIVE OR MORE NIGHTS

  • Please be advised that Magnolia Hotel & Spa reserves the right to charge the credit card on file a deposit of one night’s room rate plus tax, for reservations of five or more consecutive nights.
  • This security measure is used to mitigate false reservations and spam. Please note that if we are not able to process this charge, the reservation will be cancelled.

CANCELLATION

  • The reservation must be cancelled by the specified cancellation date noted on the reservation, otherwise a penalty of one night’s room and tax will be charged onto the credit card provided as a guarantee for the booking. Promotional and Non-Refundable Reservations are subject to additional Cancellation Penalties specific to the Rate Plan reserved
  • Non-refundable rates are deeply discounted and will not be refunded if cancelled.
  • The Magnolia Hotel & Spa highly recommends purchasing travel insurance for unanticipated cancellations.

PAYMENT

  • A valid credit card is required to guarantee each reservation, and must be presented upon check-in, along with the cardholder’s picture identification. Accepted credit cards: MasterCard, Visa, American Express, JCB, and Discover. Debit cards will not be accepted.
  • Credit cards are authorized at check-in for the entire stay plus an additional daily incidentals allowance. This authorization is a hold that will be released once the final payment is processed upon check-out. Please note it can take up to seven business days for the hold to be cleared on the credit card, depending on the card provider.
  • Direct billing for corporate accounts must be applied for a minimum two weeks prior to the check in dates.
  • If a credit card that does not belong to the guest staying is to be used for payment, a third-party credit card authorization form MUST be completed through the front desk a minimum 72 hours prior to arrival.

ADDITIONAL GUESTS

  • Most rates are based on single/double occupancy.
  • Additional person charge, depending on the rate booked, would be $30-40 per guest, per night, plus tax.
  • Children under the age of 12 can stay in the same room as their parents with existing bedding at no extra charge on most rates.
  • A limited number of roll-away beds are available, and roll-away beds do not fit in all room types, so please call ahead to confirm space and availability.

PARKING VALET SERVICE

  • The Magnolia Hotel & Spa offers convenient valet parking, including electric charging stations for guests of the hotel.

  • Valet parking is currently priced at $40 per night + tax, and guests enjoy unlimited in-and-out valet privileges. Pricing is subject to change.

  • Valet parking garage is underground and has a height restriction of 6’5”, over-height vehicles cannot be accommodated.

PET POLICY

  • The Magnolia Hotel & Spa will accept up to two dogs per room; other pets are not accepted.
  • Pet Fee $40 per night for up to three nights will be billed for deep cleaning.
  • A dog bed, water bowl and food dish will be available for use in the room.
  • A signed Pet Waiver is required at check-in
  • Dogs must be kept on a leash or in an enclosed travel carrier while in the hotel.
  • Dogs left unattended in Guest Rooms must be in a crate, or a Pet Hanger must be left on the door. Guests must provide a cellphone number if they are leaving their dog unattended so the front desk may contact the guest if the dog becomes upset. Daily housekeeping will not take place if a dog is left in the room and not locked in their crate.
  • The Magnolia Hotel & Spa reserves the right to require immediate removal of any pet that displays dangerous or unacceptable behavior, including, but not limited to, biting, excessive noise (such as barking), evidence of disease, or urination/defecation in public areas. If the hotel must remove a dog, the guest will be responsible for all charges that relate to the removal, including but not limited to, transportation and kennel charges.

NOISE & GATHERINGS

  • In-room parties are prohibited, and no unregistered guests are permitted to stay in guest rooms. To ensure the comfort and enjoyment of all those staying at the Magnolia Hotel & Spa, this policy is strictly enforced.
  • In the event of a disturbance, one warning will be given to reduce noise. If this warning is not followed, the Hotel reserves the right to involve the local police authorities.
  • Furthermore, should it be determined that excessive disturbance or damages have taken place, the Hotel reserves the right to evict the disruptive guests without a refund, to apply additional charges, including but not limited to: repair costs for furniture, Hotel common property, or costs for compensating affected guests.

SMOKE-FREE ENVIRONMENT

  • The Magnolia Hotel & Spa is proud to provide a completely smoke-free environment
  • Smoking, vaping and e-cigarettes are prohibited in all guestrooms, guestroom balconies as well as all public spaces.
  • In consideration of other guests, please be advised that violations of this policy will result in substantial smoking penalties per infraction starting at $500.

Check-in time at the Magnolia Hotel & Spa is guaranteed by 4:00pm.

What time is check out?

Check-out time is 11:00am.

May I request an early check-in time?

Please provide the estimated time of arrival to the front desk and the housekeeping team will try to accommodate the request. If the room is not ready upon arrival, the front desk will be happy to hold luggage and can contact guests as soon as the room is ready.

May I request a late check-out time? 

Please contact the front desk to request a late check-out. Housekeeping will confirm availability the morning of check-out; if a late check-out is not available, the front desk will be happy to hold any luggage.

Does the Magnolia Hotel & Spa have air conditioning?

Yes, the Magnolia Hotel & Spa has air conditioning throughout the building.

Is the Magnolia Hotel & Spa pet friendly?

The hotel accepts up to two dogs per room. A cleaning fee of $40 per night plus tax, for up to three nights, will be charged to deep clean the room upon departure.

The hotel will provide a dog bed, food and water bowls. Unfortunately, cats, birds, reptiles, ferrets and other pets are not accepted.

Are there any pet-free rooms?

While the hotel does not designate specific rooms as pet-free, rooms are deep cleaned after each pet stay to remove pet hair and dander. Please contact reservations in advance to request a room that has not had a pet stay for a minimum of 30 days.

Is there an additional cost for children to stay at the Magnolia Hotel & Spa?

Children 12 years of age and under stay free with parents with existing bedding at most rates. A cot may be added to some room types, check with reservations for availability.

Does the hotel have a pool or hot tub?

The hotel does not have pool or hub tub facilities. The fitness room is available 24 hours per day. Guests may also borrow the hotel’s bikes.

Is the hotel non-smoking?

The Magnolia Hotel & Spa, including all guest room balconies and public spaces, is non-smoking. Cleaning fees, starting at $500, if there is evidence of smoking.

Does the Magnolia Hotel & Spa have suites? What is the largest room?

The hotel does not have any one or two-bedroom suites. However, the Signature Corner and Signature Diamond Rooms are 395 square feet and offer a seating area with sofa, chair and coffee table.

Does the hotel have accessible rooms?

The Magnolia Hotel & Spa has two accessible Superior Rooms with 1 queen bed, lowered amenities and contact points. The bathrooms have grab bars by the toilet and the roll-in shower. Shower chair, toilet seat riser and grip mats are available upon request.

Does the hotel have parking?

The Magnolia Hotel & Spa offers valet parking with unlimited in and out privileges, currently priced at $40 per vehicle, per night, inclusive of tax; pricing is subject to change.

Valet parking garage is underground and has a height restriction of 6'5".

Guest services can provide options for self parking, and options for over-height vehicles.

Can the hotel charge electric vehicles?

The Magnolia Hotel & Spa has several vehicle charging stations in the underground valet parking.

Is there an airport shuttle?

The hotel does not have a shuttle service. BC Transit has buses to and from the Victoria International Airport and BC Ferries, and taxis and Uber are readily available.

Taxi fare is typically $75 each way, and subject to change, Uber rates vary.

Does the hotel have bike storage?

The Magnolia Hotel & Spa can store 1-2 bicycles complimentary in the secure garage. Contact the front desk to confirm space availability.

Does the Magnolia Hotel & Spa offer bicycles for guests to use?

The hotel does have a fleet of cruiser and electric bikes, available to borrow complimentary on a first-come, first-serve basis, complete with sanitized helmet, bike lock and the hotel’s exclusive curated bike trails.

How old is the hotel? What is the history of the Magnolia Hotel & Spa?

The Magnolia Hotel & Spa was born from the shared vision of two local families with a deep passion for travel. Founded in 1998 by Victoria entrepreneurs Jim Duncan and Anthony Young, the hotel was created to offer guests a welcoming, luxurious experience that reflected their love for exploring the world. Today, Jim’s daughter, Nicole Roberts, proudly carries on this legacy together with the Young family, ensuring the hotel remains a haven of exceptional hospitality, authentic experiences, and a true reflection of Victoria’s unique culture and local values.

While the hotel was built in 1997 from the bottom up, the history of the site goes back to the early 1900s. The hotel’s site is a combination of the new hotel building at 623 Courtney Street and the building at 625 Courtney Street, erected in 1912; the original brick wall from 1912 makes up a part of Spa Magnolia.

The businesses that have occupied the space have varied over the years, and ranged from a book publisher, car rental, a paving company and even a banjo shop! The longest business on-site was the Pro Patricia Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion from 1926-1990.
